Monastik
Monasticism atau monkhood adalah cara hidup agama di mana seseorang melepaskan usaha duniawi untuk menumpukan diri sepenuhnya kepada kerja rohani. Hayat monastik memainkan peranan penting dalam banyak gereja Kristian, terutamanya dalam tradisi Katolik dan Ortodoks. Bentuk keagamaan yang serupa juga wujud dalam agama lain, terutamanya dalam agama Buddha, tetapi juga dalam agama Hindu dan Jainisme, walaupun ungkapan berbeza jauh. Laki-laki yang mengejar kehidupan monastik secara umumnya dipanggil para biarawan manakala monik perempuan dipanggil biarawati.
