Synod / sɪnəd / sejarah adalah dewan gereja, biasanya diadakan untuk memutuskan masalah doktrin, pentadbiran atau permohonan. Dalam penggunaan moden, perkataan itu sering merujuk kepada badan pentadbir gereja tertentu, sama ada anggotanya sedang bermesyuarat atau tidak. Ia juga kadang-kadang digunakan untuk merujuk kepada gereja yang dikuasai oleh sinode. Perkataan "synod" berasal daripada bahasa Yunani "σύνοδος" yang bermaksud "perhimpunan" atau "pertemuan", dan ia sinonim dengan perkataan Latin "concilium" yang bermaksud "majlis".
