Gear
Gear ialah sejenis komponen berputar yang mempunyai gigi dan ruang gigi pada lilitan luarnya. Bentuk ini membolehkan komponen lain seperti roda dan rod yang mempunyai gigi yang berpadanan disambungkan pada gear untuk memindahkan tork putaran dengan lancar. Dua gear yang bekerja seiring dipanggi transmisi dan boleh menghasilkan faedah mekanik melalui nisbah gear dan dengan itu boleh dianggap suatu mesin ringkas. Gear biasanya digunakan di dalam alat transmisi. Bergantung kepada binaan dan susunan, peranti bergear boleh menghantar daya pada kelajuan, tork ataupun arah yang berbeza daripada sumber kuasa. Terdapat pelbagai jenis gear mengikut jenis gigi dan bentuk gear itu sendiri. Gear paling mudah dipanggil "gear taji".
