Definisi rayu dalam kamus Melayu
rayu I 1. = sayu ~ pilu hati, rawan hati, terharu; 2. = merayu berasa pilu, terharu.
rayu II = rayuan pujukan atau hiburan utk menyenangkan hati: tertidurlah oleh ~ irama merdu; pujuk dan~nya sudah tidak bermakna lagi; merayu 1. menyedapkan hati dgn hiburan dll: irama lagu Melayu ~ hati; 2. memikat hati, memujuk: ia menulis surat ~ gadis itu supaya menerimanya sbg suami; 3. memajukan permohonan, mengemukakan permintaan: jika seseorang tidak puas hati dgn keputusan Mahkamah Tinggi, maka bolehlah ia ~ kpd Mahkamah Ulang Bicara; mereka ~ kpd kerajaan supaya bertindak segera membasmi nyamuk dan lalat; merayu-rayu merayu dgn sungguh-sungguh: dia ~ kpd perompak itu agar keluarganya tidak diapa-apakan; bunyi muzik yg beralun lembut bagaikan ~ memanggil mereka berdua masuk; merayukan memajukan permohonan kpd: perkara yg dirayukan oleh keluarga itu ialah suatu perkara keluarga mereka sendiri; rayuan 1. rayu; 2. permohonan, permintaan: ~ kpd pemaju perumahan; 3. permohonan kpd mahkamah atau pihak berkuasa yg lebih tinggi supaya mengkaji semula keputusan mahkamah atau pihak berkuasa yg lebih rendah: membuat ~ bagi meringankan hukuman; perayu orang yg merayu.
