Utopia

Utopia merujuk kepada sebuah komuniti atau masyaratat ideal yang memiliki sistem sosio-politico-sah yang sempurna. Perkataan ini diimport dari Yunani, oleh Sir Thomas More untuk buku 1516 beliau, Utopia, menghuraikan tentang sebuah pulau rekaan di Lautan Atlantik. Istilah ini telah digunakan untuk memperihalkan kedua-dua komuniti terancang yang cuba untuk mencipta sebuah masyarakat ideal, dan masyarakat rekaan yang digambarkan dalam sastera. Ia telah melahirkan konsep-konsep lain, yang paling utama ialah dystopia. Kata ini datang daripada Bahasa Greek: οὐ, "bukan", dan τόπος, "tempat". Kata sebunyi Inggeris, Eutopia, diterbitkan daripada kata Yunani εὖ, "bagus" atau "baik", dan τόπος, "tempat", menandakan adanya dwimakna.
