Animizm
Animizm jest światopoglądzie, że istoty pozanologiczne posiadają istotę duchową. W szczególności animizm jest wykorzystywany w antropologii religii jako określenie dla systemu wierzeń lub kosmologii niektórych rdzennej ludów plemiennych, zwłaszcza przed rozwojem i / lub infiltracją kolonializmu i zorganizowanej religii. Choć każda kultura ma swoje różne mitologie i rytuały, "animizm" mówi się, że opisuje najpowszechniejszy, podstawowy wątek perspektyw "duchowych" lub "nadprzyrodzonych" tubylczych ludów. Perspektywa animistyczna jest tak fundamentalna, przyziemna, codzienna i przyzwoitka, że większość animistycznych rdzennych ludzi nie ma nawet słów w swoich językach odpowiadających "animmizmowi"; termin ten jest konstruktem antropologicznym, a nie wyznaczonym przez samych ludzi. W dużej mierze ze względu na odmienność etniczno-kulturową i kulturową opinia różniła się od tego, czy animizm odnosi się do szerokiego przekonania religijnego czy do pełnoprawnej religii w sposób samodzielny.
