Koagulacja
Koagulacja jest procesem, w wyniku którego krew zmienia się z płynu na żel. Może to prowadzić do powstania hemostazy, zaprzestania utraty krwi z uszkodzonego naczynia, a następnie naprawy. Mechanizm koagulacji obejmuje aktywację, adhezję i agregację płytek krwi wraz z osadzaniem i dojrzewaniem fibryny. Zaburzeniami krzepnięcia są stany chorobowe, które mogą powodować krwawienie lub obturacyjne krzepnięcie. Ekspozycja krwi do przestrzeni pod śródbłonkiem inicjuje dwa procesy: zmiany płytek krwi i ekspozycję podściennego czynnika tkanki do osocza czynnika VII, co ostatecznie prowadzi do powstania fibryny. Płytki krwi natychmiast tworzą zatyczkę w miejscu uszkodzenia; nazywa się to pierwotną hemostazą.
