Zimna rama
W rolnictwie i ogrodnictwie, zimna rama jest przezroczystą zadaszoną obudową, zbudowaną na niskim podłożu, stosowaną do ochrony roślin przed niekorzystnymi warunkami pogodowymi, głównie nadmiernie zimnymi lub mokrymi. Przezroczysta góra dopuszcza światło słoneczne i zapobiega wydzielaniu ciepła przez konwekcję, która wystąpiłaby inaczej, szczególnie w nocy. Zasadniczo zimna ramka pełni rolę miniaturowej szklarni, która wydłuża sezon wegetacyjny. Historycznie, oprócz ogrzewanej szklarni, zbudowano zimne ramy. Sama nazwa wyróżnia rozróżnienie ciepłej cieplarni i nieogrzewanej zimnej ramy. Często zbudowano je jako część muru fundamen- trowego wzdłuż muru południowego. Pozwoliło to na kiełkowanie nasion w szklarni, a następnie łatwe przenoszenie do przymocowanej zimnej ramy do "zesztywniania" przed ostatecznym sadzeniem na zewnątrz. Zimne ramy są podobne do niektórych zamkniętych podgrzewaczy, zwanych także gorącymi skrzyniami. Różnica polega na ilości ciepła wytwarzanego wewnątrz. Jest to równoznaczne z tym, że niektóre szklarnie nazywają się "cieplarniami" w celu podkreślenia ich wyższej temperatury, osiągniętej zarówno przez efekty słoneczne, jak i przez pomocnicze ogrzewanie poprzez nagrzewnicę lub system HVAC.
