Śruba przerywana
Przerwany śruba lub przerywany gwint jest mechanicznym urządzeniem typowym stosowanym w ścisku pistoletów artylerii. Został wynaleziony ok. 1845 r. Jest to śruba, która ma odcinek gwintu wzdłuż jego osi. Śruba jest połączona z otworem z tyłu komory broni; tzn. gdy śruba ma gwinty, otwór nie działa i odwrotnie. W ten sposób śruba może być wsunięta do pistoletu, a potem tylko 1/6 obrotu może zaczepiać o dwa komplety gwintów, zamykając zatrzask. Przerwane śruby są spotykane okazjonalnie w karabinach luzem, ponieważ ten mechanizm był historycznie jednym z niewielu praktycznych sposobów osiągnięcia uszczelnienia odpornego na gazy z bronią palną typu breech, która nie wykorzystuje nabojów. Wcześniejszą metodą było użycie klina do blokowania tylnej części pistoletu. Uszczelnienie zostało dodatkowo udoskonalone przez obwód de Bange'a w 1872 roku. Główną wadą oryginalnych projektów było to, że mogła być gwintowana tylko połowa obwodu bryczesy, a zatem potrzebny był dość długie breechblock, aby osiągnąć bezpieczną blokadę.
