Luang Prabang lub Louangphrabang (Lao: ຫຼວງ ພຣະ ບາງ, dosłownie: "Obraz Królewskiego Buddy" ("Dispelling Fear mudra") - wymawiany) jest miastem położonym w północno-środkowym Laosie, u zbiegu rzeki Nam Khan i Mekongu około 300 km na północ od Wientian. Jest stolicą prowincji Luang Prabang. Ludność miasta wynosi około 50 000. Miasto było dawniej stolicą królestwa o tym samym imieniu. Wiadomo było też starożytną nazwę Chiang Thong. Do komunistycznego przejęcia w 1975 roku była to stolica królewska i siedziba rządu Królestwa Laosu. Jest to wpisane na Listę Światowego Dziedzictwa UNESCO. Główna część miasta składa się z czterech głównych dróg położonych na półwyspie między rzekami Nam Khan i Mekong. Miasto jest znane z licznych buddyjskich świątyń i klasztorów. Każdego ranka setki mnichów z różnych klasztorów idą ulicami zbierając jałmużnę. Jednym z głównych zabytków w mieście jest duży stromy wzgórze, na którym siedzi Wat Chom Si.
