Opisano użycie płaskiej metalowej membrany w głoso- pudełko skrzypcowe do mechanicznego powiększania dźwięku. Następnie 16 lutego 1901 r. Złożył wniosek o drugi brytyjski patent GB3393 zatytułowany Ulepszenia w membranach fonografów, instrumentów muzycznych i anologicznych produkcji dźwięku, nagrywaniu i przekazywaniu przekazów. Zostało to przyjęte 14 grudnia 1901 r.
