Szwajcarscy strażnicy to szwajcarskie żołnierze, którzy od połowy XV wieku służyli strażom w zagranicznych sądach europejskich. Ponieważ Szwajcaria była biednym krajem, młodzi mężczyźni często poszukiwali fortuny za granicę, posiadali reputację dyscypliny i lojalności, a także stosowali rewolucyjną taktykę walki. Byli uważani za najpotężniejsze oddziały XV wieku, dopóki ich metody nie zostały wyrafinowane przez Landsknechte na początku 16 wieku. Najwcześniejsza jednostka była szwajcarską strażą w francuskim sądzie. Ta mała siła została uzupełniona w 1567 przez pułk Szwajcarzy Guards.
