Valdai Hills
Wzgórza Valdai to region górzysty w północno-zachodniej części Rosji, biegnący na północy na południe, w połowie drogi między Sankt Petersburgiem a Moskwą, obejmujący Leningrad, Novgorod, Tver, Pskov i Oblast Smoleńsk. Wzgórza są na północ wysuniętym na Centralnym Rosyjskim Wyżynie. Grzbiet jest pokryty przez zdeponowane materiały lodowcowe w postaci końcówek morenowych i innych detrytusów. Wzgórza Valdai osiągają maksymalną wysokość, w pobliżu Wyszyna Ochotnicza, o długości 346,9 m. Wulg, Daugava, Lovat, Msta, Dnieprz, Syas i inne rzeki pochodzą z wzgórz Valdai. Obszar ten jest zatem podzielony między zlewiska Morza Kaspijskiego, Morza Czarnego i Morza Bałtyckiego. Jest to miejsce wielu jezior, wśród nich Jezioro Volgo, Jezioro Peno, Jezioro Seliger, Jezioro Brosno i Jezioro Valdayskoye. Wzgórza Valdai są popularnym miejscem turystycznym, szczególnie wędkarskim. Miasta Ostashkov i Valday są również godne uwagi ze względu na ich historyczne stowarzyszenia. Park Narodowy Valdaysky powstał w 1990 roku w południowej części Obwodu Nowogrodzkiego, aby chronić krajobrazy najwyższej części wzgórz.
