Stadion lub stat, specjalnie zbudowane obiekty sportowe do różnych zawodów sportowych. Stadiony zbudowane do biegania w starożytnej Grecji składały się z wąskich i niezbyt długich pylonów na początku. Na skraju tego pasa znajdowały się schody, na których siedziała publiczność. Stadyum veya stat, çeşitli spor müsabakalarının yapılabilmesi için özel olarak yapılmış spor tesisleri. Eski Yunan'da koşu için yapılan stadyumlar ilk zamanlarda dar ve fazla uzun olmayan pistten oluşuyordu. Bu pistin kenarlarında seyircilerin oturduğu basamaklar bulunuyordu. Müsabaklara olan ilginin artmasıyla stadyumların boyutları değişti. M.Ö. 4. asırdan itibaren stadyumalar abidevi bir görünüm almaya başladı. Yunanistan'da büyük stadyumlar yapıldı. Romalılar stadyumlar yerine arenaları tercih etti. İlk modern stadyumlar açık hava stadyumlarıydı. Daha sonraları tamamen kapalı stadyumlar yapıldı. Günümüzde inşa edilen stadyumların ana mekanını dikdörtgen seklinde çimlendirilmiş bir saha ile bu sahanın etrafında yer alan pistler oluşturur. Sahanın kenarlarında seyircilerin müsabakaları seyretmesi için tribünler bulununur. Ayrıca sporcuların soyunma odaları, revir, çalışma ve toplantı salonları, radyo ve televizyon muhabirlerinin, naklen yayın ekiplerinin maçları takip ettiği kısımlar,vip salonları,restorantlar büfeler ve gişeler de stadyumların bölümlerini oluşturur.
