Antena (biologia)
Antenas na biologia historicamente foram apêndices pareados usados para detectar em artrópodes. Mais recentemente, o termo também foi aplicado às estruturas cilias presentes na maioria dos tipos celulares de eucariotas. Nos artrópodes, as antenas estão conectadas aos segmentos da frente. Nos crustáceos, eles são biramous e presentes nos dois primeiros segmentos da cabeça, com o par menor conhecido como antennules. Todos os outros grupos de artrópodes - exceto chelicerates e proturans, que não possuem - possuem uma única antena uniramous. Estas antenas são articuladas, pelo menos na base, e, em geral, se estendem para a frente da cabeça. Eles são órgãos sensoriais, embora a natureza exata do que eles sentem e como eles o sentem não é o mesmo em todos os grupos, ou sempre claro.
