Bactria
Bactria é o nome antigo de uma região histórica localizada ao sul do Amu Darya e a oeste de Gandhara. A antiga Bactria estava no atual norte do Afeganistão, entre a cordilheira Hindu Kush e Amu Darya. Uma vez Zoroastriano, esta região posteriormente hospedou o budismo antes de se tornar muçulmana após a chegada dos Rashiduns e os Omáyades no século 7. Bactria também era às vezes referido pelos gregos como Bactriana.
