Benzoin é um composto orgânico com a fórmula PhCHCPh. É uma hidroxi cetona unida a dois grupos fenilo. Aparece como cristais esbranquiçados, com um leve odor de cânfora. A benzeno é sintetizada a partir de benzaldeído na condensação de benjoin. É quiral e existe como um par de enantiômeros: -benzoin e -benzoin. A benzilina não é um constituinte da resina benzoína obtida a partir da árvore do bençoino ou tintura da benzoína. O principal componente nestes produtos naturais é o ácido benzóico.
