O tecido adiposo marrom ou a gordura marrom é um dos dois tipos de gordura ou tecido adiposo encontrados em mamíferos. É especialmente abundante nos recém-nascidos e nos mamíferos em hibernação. Sua principal função é gerar calor corporal em animais ou recém-nascidos que não tremem. Em contraste com os adipócitos brancos, que contêm uma única gota de lipídios, os adipócitos marrons contêm numerosas gotículas menores e um número muito maior de mitocôndrias, o que o torna marrom. A gordura bruta também contém mais capilares que a gordura branca, pois tem maior necessidade de oxigênio do que a maioria dos tecidos.
