CAPTCHA
Um CAPTCHA é um tipo de teste de resposta de desafio usado na computação para determinar se o usuário é ou não humano. O termo foi cunhado em 2000 por Luis von Ahn, Manuel Blum, Nicholas J. Hopper da Carnegie Mellon University e John Langford da IBM. O tipo mais comum de CAPTCHA foi primeiro inventado por Mark D. Lillibridge, Martin Abadi, Krishna Bharat e Andrei Z. Broder. Esta forma de CAPTCHA requer que o usuário digite as letras de uma imagem distorcida, às vezes com a adição de uma seqüência obscura de letras ou dígitos que aparece na tela. Como o teste é administrado por um computador, em contraste com o teste de Turing padrão que é administrado por um ser humano, um CAPTCHA às vezes é descrito como um teste de Turing reverso. Este termo é ambíguo porque também pode significar um teste de Turing em que os participantes estão tentando provar que são o computador.
