Carjacking
Carjacking é a apreensão ilegal de um automóvel. Também é assalto armado quando o veículo está ocupado. Historicamente, como na erupção de hijackings de caminhões de semi-reboque durante a década de 1960, o termo geral de seqüestro foi usado para esse tipo de abdução de veículo, que geralmente não incluiia o seqüestro do motorista e concentrou-se no roubo da carga, em vez disso do que o próprio veículo. Durante o crime de roubo de carro do dia-a-dia, tipicamente, o carjacker está armado e o motorista é forçado a sair do carro com a ameaça de lesões corporais. Em outros casos mais raros, o motorista é seqüestrado sob o assalto por uma arma e é retido como passageiro sob coação ou feito para dirigir o seu seqüestrador. As mulheres são particularmente vítimas neste último método. A palavra é um portmanteau de carro e seqüestro.
