Transdução (genética)
A transdução é o processo pelo qual o DNA é transferido de uma bactéria para outra por um vírus. Ele também se refere ao processo pelo qual o DNA estranho é introduzido em outra célula através de um vetor viral. A transdução não requer contato físico entre a célula que doa o DNA e a célula que recebe o DNA, e é DNase resistente. A transdução é uma ferramenta comum usada por biólogos moleculares para introduzir de forma estável um gene estranho no genoma de uma célula hospedeira. Quando os bacteriófagos infectam uma célula bacteriana, seu modo normal de reprodução é aproveitar a maquinaria de replicação, transcrição e tradução da célula bacteriana hospedeira para produzir numerosos viriões, ou completar partículas virais, incluindo o DNA ou ARN viral e a camada proteica.
