Dicionário
Um dicionário é a coleta de palavras em um ou mais idiomas específicos, muitas vezes listados em ordem alfabética, com uso de informações, definições, etimologias, fonética, pronúncias, tradução e outras informações; ou um livro de palavras em um idioma com seus equivalentes em outro, também conhecido como um léxico. De acordo com Nielsen, um dicionário pode ser considerado como um produto lexicográfico caracterizado por três características significativas: foi preparado para uma ou mais funções; contém dados que foram selecionados com o objetivo de cumprir essas funções; e suas estruturas lexicográficas vinculam e estabelecem relações entre os dados para que possam atender às necessidades dos usuários e cumprir as funções do dicionário. Uma ampla distinção é feita entre dicionários gerais e especializados. Os dicionários especializados não contêm informações sobre palavras que são usadas em linguagem para fins gerais - palavras usadas por pessoas comuns em situações cotidianas. Os itens léxicos que descrevem conceitos em campos específicos geralmente são chamados de termos em vez de palavras, embora não haja consenso se a lexicologia e a terminologia são dois campos de estudo diferentes.
