O QUE SIGNIFICA ECOCIDE EM INGLÊS
Ecocida
O termo ecocida refere-se a qualquer dano ou destruição extensa da paisagem natural e à ruptura ou perda do ecossistema de um determinado território, a tal ponto que a sobrevivência dos habitantes desse território está em perigo. O Ecocide pode ser irreversível quando um ecossistema sofre além da auto curação. Em geral, está associada a danos causados por um agente vivo, direta ou indiretamente. Um organismo pode infligir diretamente o ecocida ao matar espécies suficientes em um ecossistema para perturbar sua estrutura e função. O Ecocide também pode resultar da poluição, como a introdução de altas concentrações de pesticidas que destroem a flora local extensivamente. Uma definição mais fraca de ecocida é aquela em que um organismo destrói ecossistemas diferentes dos seus próprios. Por exemplo, pode-se dizer que, durante a era pré-cambriana, as algas azul-verde comprometeram o ecocidio sobre a ecologia predominante que reduziu a química, liberando oxigênio no meio ambiente. Os organismos aos quais o oxigênio era um veneno morreram, enquanto as algas e outros organismos se adaptaram e criaram uma nova ecologia baseada em química de oxidação.
