Guyenne
Guyenne ou Guienne é uma região histórica vagamente definida do sudoeste da França, que constitui a base de uma grande província da França pré-revolucionária chamada província da Guiana, às vezes chamada de Guiné e da Guiana. O nome Guyenne vem da Guiana occitana, que é em si uma corrupção da palavra aquitânia. No entanto, as palavras Aquitânia e Guyenne vieram indicar diferentes entidades. A região de Guyenne também se confundiu com a região da Gasconha até que isso assumiu uma identidade distinta no século XVII. Desta vez, "Guyenne e Gascony" era um termo comum correspondente aproximadamente ao norte do norte da Aquitânia. O ducado da Guiana aparece pela primeira vez no Tratado de Paris de 1229, que acabou com a cruzada albigense e pode ter sido realmente criado por esse tratado. A capital era Bordeaux. O ducado estava sob os Reis da Inglaterra, como Guyenne tinha sido desde 1154 e permaneceu um vassalo inglês até 1453.
