Hierático
Hieratic é um sistema de escrita cursiva, usado na proveniência dos faraós no Egito e Nubia, que se desenvolveu ao lado do sistema hieroglífico, ao qual está intimamente relacionado. Era principalmente escrito em tinta com um pincel de cana no papiro, permitindo que os escribas escrevessem rapidamente sem recorrer aos hieróglifos que consomem tempo. No século II dC, o termo hierático foi usado pela primeira vez por Santo Clemente de Alexandria. Deriva da frase grega γράμματα ἱερατικά, pois na época era hierático usado apenas para textos religiosos, como havia sido o caso dos mil anos anteriores. Hieratic também pode ser um adjetivo que significa "f ou associado a pessoas ou escritórios sagrados, sacerdotal".
