Onda Lee
Na meteorologia, ondas lee são ondas estacionárias atmosféricas. A forma mais comum é as ondas da montanha, que são ondas atmosféricas de gravidade interna. Estes foram descobertos em 1933 por dois pilotos de planador alemães, Hans Deutschmann e Wolf Hirth, acima do Krkonoše. São mudanças periódicas de pressão atmosférica, temperatura e altura ortográfica em uma corrente de ar causada por deslocamento vertical, por exemplo, elevação orográfica quando o vento sopra sobre uma montanha ou serra. Eles também podem ser causados pelo vento superficial soprando sobre uma escarpa ou planalto, ou mesmo por ventos superiores desviados sobre uma corrente térmica ascendente ou nuvem. O movimento vertical força mudanças periódicas na velocidade e direção do ar dentro dessa corrente de ar. Eles sempre ocorrem em grupos do lado esquerdo do terreno que os desencadeia. Normalmente, um vórtice turbulento, com seu eixo de rotação paralelo à cordilheira, é gerado em torno da primeira calha; isso é chamado de rotor. As ondas de lee mais fortes são produzidas quando a taxa de lapso mostra uma camada estável acima da obstrução, com uma camada instável acima e abaixo.
