O QUE SIGNIFICA MULTIDENTATE EM INGLÊS
Denticidade
A denticidade refere-se ao número de átomos em um único ligando que se liga a um átomo central em um complexo de coordenação. Em muitos casos, apenas um átomo no ligando se liga ao metal, então a denticidade é igual a uma, e o ligando é dito ser monodentado. Os ligandos com mais de um átomo ligado são chamados de polidentado ou multidentado. A palavra denticidade é derivada de dentis, a palavra latina para dente. O ligando é pensado como mordendo o metal em um ou mais pontos de ligação. A denticidade de um ligando é descrita com a letra grega κ. Por exemplo, κ6-EDTA descreve um ligando EDTA que coordena através de 6 átomos não contíguos. A dentibilidade é diferente da hapticidade porque a hapticidade se refere exclusivamente a ligandos onde os átomos de coordenação são contíguos. Nesses casos, a notação η é usada. Ligando ligandos usam a notação μ.
