A negociação é um diálogo entre duas ou mais pessoas ou partes destinadas a alcançar um entendimento, resolver pontos de diferença, ganhar vantagem para um indivíduo ou coletivo, ou criar resultados para satisfazer vários interesses. A negociação ocorre em organizações comerciais, organizações sem fins lucrativos, agências governamentais, processos judiciais, entre países e em situações pessoais, como casamento, divórcio, pais e vida cotidiana. O estudo do assunto é chamado de teoria da negociação. Os negociadores profissionais são muitas vezes especializados, como os negociadores sindicais, alavancam negociadores de compras, negociadores de paz, negociadores de reféns ou podem trabalhar sob outros títulos, como diplomatas, legisladores ou corretores. Negotiation is a dialogue between two or more people or parties intended to reach an understanding, resolve points of difference, to gain advantage for an individual or collective, or to craft outcomes to satisfy various interests. Negotiation occurs in business, non-profit organizations, government branches, legal proceedings, among nations and in personal situations such as marriage, divorce, parenting, and everyday life. The study of the subject is called negotiation theory. Professional negotiators are often specialized, such as union negotiators, leverage buyout negotiators, peace negotiators, hostage negotiators, or may work under other titles, such as diplomats, legislators or brokers.
