Ornitologia
O ornitologia é um ramo da zoologia que diz respeito ao estudo das aves. Etimologicamente, a palavra "ornitologia" deriva do grego antigo ὄρνις ornis e λόγος logos. Enquanto a ornitologia precoce se preocupava principalmente com descrições e distribuições de espécies, os ornitólogos hoje buscam respostas para questões muito específicas, muitas vezes usando pássaros como modelos para testar hipóteses ou previsões baseadas em teorias. A maioria das teorias biológicas modernas se aplicam em grupos taxonômicos e o número de cientistas profissionais que se identificam como "ornitólogos" declinou.
