Ossetia
Ossetia é uma região etnolinguística localizada em ambos os lados das Montanhas do Grande Cáucaso, em grande parte habitada pelos Ossetios. A língua ossense é parte do ramo iraniano oriental da família das línguas indo-européias. A área de fala ossetiense ao sul da principal cordilheira do Cáucaso é reconhecida pela maioria dos países dentro das fronteiras da Geórgia, mas sob o controle do governo de facto apoiado na Rússia da República da Ossétia do Sul. A parte norte da região consiste na república de Ossetia do Norte-Alania dentro da Federação Russa.
