Conjunto parcialmente ordenado
Em matemática, especialmente a teoria das ordens, um conjunto parcialmente ordenado formaliza e generaliza o conceito intuitivo de ordenação, seqüenciamento ou disposição dos elementos de um conjunto. Um poset consiste em um conjunto junto com uma relação binária que indica que, para certos pares de elementos no conjunto, um dos elementos precede o outro. Essa relação é chamada de ordem parcial para refletir o fato de que nem todos os par de elementos precisam estar relacionados: para alguns pares, pode ser que nenhum dos elementos preceda o outro no poset. Assim, ordens parciais generalizam as ordens totais mais familiares, nas quais cada par está relacionado. Um poset finito pode ser visualizado através do seu diagrama Hasse, que retrata a relação de pedidos. Um exemplo familiar da vida real de um conjunto parcialmente ordenado é uma coleção de pessoas ordenadas por descendência genealógica. Alguns pares de pessoas carregam a relação descendente-antepassado, mas outros pares não possuem tal relação.
