Autópsia
Uma autópsia - também conhecida como exame pós-mortem, necropsia, autopsia cadaverum ou obducção - é um procedimento cirúrgico altamente especializado que consiste em um exame minucioso de um cadáver para determinar a causa e o modo de morte e para avaliar qualquer doença ou lesão que pode estar presente. Geralmente é realizada por um médico especialista chamado patologista. As autópsias são realizadas para fins legais ou médicos. Por exemplo, uma autópsia forense é realizada quando a causa da morte pode ser uma questão criminal, enquanto uma autópsia clínica ou acadêmica é realizada para encontrar a causa médica da morte e é usada em casos de morte desconhecida ou incerta, ou para fins de pesquisa . As autópsias podem ser ainda classificadas nos casos em que o exame externo é suficiente e aqueles em que o corpo está dissecado e o exame interno é conduzido. A permissão de parentes mais próximos pode ser necessária para autópsia interna em alguns casos. Uma vez que uma autópsia interna está completa, o corpo é reconstituído juntando-o novamente.
