Pratincole
Os pratincoles ou greywaders são um grupo de pássaros que junto com os coursers e o Tarambola egípcio compõem a família Glareolidae. Eles têm pernas curtas, asas largas muito longas e longas caudas bifurcadas. Sua característica mais incomum para os pássaros classificados como waders é que eles normalmente caçam suas presas de insetos na asa como andorinhas, embora também possam se alimentar do chão. Suas contas curtas são uma adaptação à alimentação aérea. Seu vôo é rápido e gracioso, como uma andorinha ou uma bagunça, com muitas voltas e voltas para perseguir suas presas. Eles são mais ativos ao amanhecer e ao anoitecer, descansando na parte mais gostosa do dia. Tal como os coursers, os pratincoles são encontrados em partes mais quentes do Velho Mundo, do sul da Europa e da África a leste, através da Ásia para a Austrália. As espécies que se reproduzem em regiões temperadas são migrantes de longa distância. Seus dois ou quatro ovos são colocados no chão em um raspão nu. A pratincole australiana, a única espécie que não é do gênero Glareola, é mais terrestre do que as outras pratincoles e pode ser intermediária entre este grupo e os coursers.
