Royal Ulster Constabulary
A Royal Ulster Constabulary foi a força policial na Irlanda do Norte de 1922 a 2001. Após a concessão do George Cross em 2000, foi posteriormente conhecida como a Royal Ulster Constabulary GC. Foi fundada em 1 de junho de 1922 fora da Royal Irish Constabulary. No seu pico, a força tinha cerca de 8.500 oficiais com mais 4.500 que eram membros da Reserva RUC. Durante os Problemas, mais de 300 membros do RUC foram mortos e quase 9 mil feridos em assassinatos ou ataques paramilitares, principalmente pelo IRA Provisório, que fez, em 1983, o RUC a força policial mais perigosa do mundo para servir. O RUC foi substituído pelo Serviço de Polícia da Irlanda do Norte em 2001. A antiga força policial foi renomeada e reformada, como está previsto na versão final da Lei de Polícia de 2000. O RUC foi continuamente acusado por setores da comunidade católica minoritária e por alguns grupos de direitos humanos de policiamento e discriminação unilateral, bem como por sua suposta colusão com paramilitares leais.
