O QUE SIGNIFICA SAINTLINESS EM INGLÊS
Santo
Um santo é aquele que foi reconhecido por ter um grau excepcional de santidade. Enquanto o termo inglês "santo" se originou no cristianismo, os historiadores da religião usam agora o termo "de uma forma mais geral para se referir ao estado de santidade especial que muitas religiões atribuem a certas pessoas", com o Tzadik judeu, o Mu islâmico min, o rishi ou o guru hindu, e o arhat budista ou bodhisattva também se referem a santos. Dependendo da religião, os santos são reconhecidos através do reconhecimento oficial da igreja ou por aclamação popular. No cristianismo, o "santo" tem uma grande variedade de significados, dependendo do seu uso e da denominação. O uso cristão original se referia a qualquer crente que é "em Cristo" e em quem Cristo habita, seja no céu ou na terra. Nos ensinamentos ortodoxos e católicos, todos os cristãos no céu são considerados santos, mas alguns são considerados dignos de maior honra, emulação ou veneração, com o reconhecimento oficial da igreja dado a alguns santos através da canonização ou glorificação.
