Arco oblíquo
Um arco oblíquo é um método de construção que permite que uma ponte de arco abranja um obstáculo em algum ângulo diferente de um ângulo reto. Isso faz com que as faces do arco não sejam perpendiculares aos seus pilares e sua visão em plano seja um paralelogramo, em vez do retângulo que é a vista em planta de um arco regular ou "quadrado". No caso de um arco oblíquo de alvenaria, a construção exige um tratamento preciso, pois nenhum dos cortes forma ângulos retos, mas uma vez que os princípios foram totalmente compreendidos no início do século 19, tornou-se consideravelmente mais fácil e mais barato construir um arco de tijolo oblíquo.
