A lei de Snell é uma fórmula usada para descrever a relação entre os ângulos de incidência e refração, quando se refere à luz ou a outras ondas que passam por um limite entre dois meios isotrópicos diferentes, como água, vidro e ar. Na óptica, a lei é utilizada no rastreamento de raios para calcular os ângulos de incidência ou refração, e em óptica experimental e gemologia para encontrar o índice de refração de um material. A lei também é satisfeita em metamateriais, que permitem que a luz seja dobrada "para trás" em um ângulo de refração negativo com um índice de refração negativo.
