Sistema Start-Stop
Nos automóveis, um sistema start-stop ou stop-start desliga automaticamente e reinicia o motor de combustão interna para reduzir a quantidade de tempo que o motor gasta no ralenti, reduzindo assim o consumo de combustível e as emissões. Isso é mais vantajoso para os veículos que gastam quantidades significativas de tempo em espera nos semáforos ou freqüentemente param em atolamentos. Esta característica está presente em veículos elétricos híbridos, mas também apareceu em veículos que não possuem um powertrain elétrico híbrido. Para veículos não elétricos, os ganhos de economia de combustível dessa tecnologia estão tipicamente na faixa de 5 a 10 por cento.
