Estrutura de cristal
Em mineralogia e cristalografia, uma estrutura de cristal é uma disposição única de átomos ou moléculas em um líquido cristalino ou sólido. Uma estrutura de cristal descreve uma estrutura altamente ordenada, ocorrendo devido à natureza intrínseca das moléculas para formar padrões simétricos. Uma estrutura de cristal pode ser pensada como uma matriz infinitamente repetitiva de "caixas" 3D, conhecidas como células unitárias. A célula unitária é calculada a partir da representação mais simples possível de moléculas, conhecida como unidade assimétrica. A unidade assimétrica é traduzida para a célula unitária através de operações de simetria, e a rede cristalina resultante é construída através da repetição da célula unitária infinitamente em 3 dimensões. Os padrões estão localizados nos pontos de uma rede, que é uma série de pontos que repitam periodicamente em três dimensões. Os comprimentos das bordas de uma célula unitária e os ângulos entre elas são chamados de parâmetros de rede. As propriedades de simetria do cristal são incorporadas em seu grupo espacial.
