Equação de onda
A equação de onda é uma importante equação diferencial parcial linear de segunda ordem para a descrição das ondas - como elas ocorrem na física - como ondas sonoras, ondas de luz e ondas de água. Ocorre em campos como acústica, eletromagnetismo e dinâmica de fluidos. Historicamente, o problema de um cordão vibratório como o de um instrumento musical foi estudado por Jean le Rond d'Alembert, Leonhard Euler, Daniel Bernoulli e Joseph-Louis Lagrange. Em 1746, d'Alambert descobriu a equação de onda unidimensional, e dentro de dez anos, Euler descobriu a equação de ondas tridimensional.
