Coordenadas: 53 ° 21'47 "N 2 ° 43'41" W / 53.363 ° N 2.728 ° W / 53.363; -2.728 Widnes é uma cidade industrial em Halton, Cheshire, Inglaterra; tinha uma população de 58.300 em 2010. Históricamente em Lancashire, é na margem norte do rio Mersey, onde o estuário se estreita para formar o Runcorn Gap. Diretamente ao sul em todo o Mersey é a cidade de Runcorn. A montante e 8 milhas a leste é a cidade de Warrington, e a jusante a oeste é Speke, parte da cidade de Liverpool. Antes da Revolução Industrial, Widnes era constituído por pequenos assentamentos em pântanos e maciços.
