Chiron
No início, Chiron era um deus da piedade da cura, mas na mitologia grega mais tarde ele sobrevive como um dos centauros. Ao contrário de outros em sua raça, Chiron era sábio e tinha conhecimento avançado da arte da cura. Foi Professor Asclepius, Thezeu e Achilles. Quando ele foi acidentalmente atingido por uma flecha envenenada desenhada por Heracles, Chiron abandonou a imortalidade para escapar da dor da morte. Após sua morte, ele se tornou a Sagitário Constellation. Chiron é o filho de Cronos e Philyra.

Ele morava em uma caverna no Monte Pelion. Sábio e bom de tudo, Chiron era o valioso amigo dos homens. Ele foi o único que ajudou e defendeu Peleus, criou-os e educou Aquiles, Jason e Asclépio. Dizia-se que o próprio Apolo teria ensinado Chiron. Por ocasião da batalha de Heracles com os centauros, Chiron foi atingido acidentalmente pelo herói (v. E Centauri). Com uma dor terrível que, com toda a sua arte na bagunça, ele não podia ajudar, Chiron se retirou para uma caverna, onde esperou o fim. Sendo imortal, ele não conseguiu encontrar a paz, mas depois de Prometeu, que era mortal, tinha recebido para trocar com ele, libertando-o desse modo de imortalidade.
