É um elemento de circuito eletrônico semicondutor que é usado como um elemento de comutação, se necessário, para fornecer ganho de tensão e corrente elevando o sinal aplicado à entrada do portão ou transistor. BJT é um transistor de superfície de junção dupla. Consiste em dois itens N, um item P ou dois itens P, um item N. O transistor é um elemento de circuito de três pólos. O pólo central no símbolo do circuito é chamado de Base, o pólo em que está ligado é chamado de Emissor, o outro é chamado de Coletor Polar. As correntes do coletor e do emissor são ajustadas de acordo com a gravidade da corrente de base. Esta relação de ajuste depende do fator de ganho. Os transistores são os blocos de construção de dispositivos eletrônicos. Os dispositivos eletrônicos usados na vida cotidiana podem ter tantos transistores quanto vários bilhões em número.
