Ackee, cunoscută și sub denumirea de achee, măr de ackee sau akee, este membru al Sapindaceae, precum și lychee și longan. Este nativă tropicală în Africa de Vest în Camerun, Gabon, São Tomé și Príncipe, Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Guineea, Guineea-Bissau, Mali, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone și Togo. Numele științific îl onorează pe căpitanul William Bligh, care a luat fructele de la Jamaica la Grădinile Botanice Regale din Kew, Anglia în 1793 și la introdus în știință. Numele comun este derivat din Africa de Vest Akan akye fufo. Fructul a fost importat în Jamaica din Africa de Vest înainte de 1778. De atunci a devenit o caracteristică majoră a diferitelor bucătării din Caraibe și este cultivat și în zone tropicale și subtropicale din alte părți ale lumii.
