Asertivitatea
Asertivitatea este calitatea de a fi auto-asigurată și încrezătoare fără a fi agresivă. În domeniul psihologiei și psihoterapiei, este o abilitate și un mijloc de comunicare. Dicționarul medical al lui Dorland definește asertivitatea ca fiind: "o formă de comportament caracterizată printr-o declarație încrezătoare sau afirmare a unei declarații fără nevoie de dovezi, afirmând drepturile sau punctul de vedere al persoanei fără a amenința agresiv drepturile unui altul sau a permite unui alt să-l ignore sau neagă drepturile sau punctul de vedere al cuiva ". În a doua jumătate a secolului XX, asertivitatea a fost din ce în ce mai distinctă ca o abilitate comportamentală predată de mulți experți în dezvoltarea personală, terapeuți de comportament și terapeuți comportamentali cognitivi. Asertivitatea este adesea legată de stima de sine.
