O propunere assertorică în logica aristoteliană afirmă doar că este ceva, spre deosebire de propozițiile problematice care afirmă posibilitatea ca ceva să fie adevărat sau propoziții apodeictice care afirmă lucruri care sunt în mod necesar sau în mod evident adevărate sau false. De exemplu, "Chicago este mai mare decât Omaha" este aserționar. "O corporație ar putea fi mai bogată decât o țară" este problematică. "Două plus două este egal cu patru" este apodeic.
