Cămilă
O cămilă este un ungulat în genul Camelus, purtând pe spate zăcăminte grase distincte, cunoscute sub denumirea de "humps". Cele două specii supraviețuitoare de cămilă sunt dromedarul sau cămilele cu un singur umăr, care locuiește în Orientul Mijlociu și în Cornul Africii; și cămilă bactriană sau cu două căpriori, care locuiește în Asia Centrală. Ambele specii au fost domesticite; ele furnizează lapte, carne, păr pentru textile sau mărfuri, cum ar fi pungi de foi, și lucrează animale cu sarcini, de la transportul uman la încărcăturile purtătoare. Termenul "cămilă" este derivat din latină și greacă din gāmāl ebraic sau fenician. Înțelesul ebraic al cuvântului gāmāl derivă din rădăcina verbului g.m.l, ceea ce înseamnă oprire, înțărcare, absență; sau rambursarea în natură.
