O contracție musculară este o scurtare permanentă a unui mușchi sau articulație. Este, de obicei, ca răspuns la spasticitatea hipertonică prelungită într-o zonă a mușchiului concentrat, cum este cea observată în cele mai strânse mușchi ale persoanelor cu afecțiuni cum ar fi paralizia cerebrală spastică. Contractele sunt în esență mușchi sau tendoane care au rămas prea strans pentru prea mult timp, devenind astfel mai scurte.
