Coucal
Un coucal este unul din aproximativ 30 de specii de păsări din familia cucului. Toate acestea aparțin subfamiliei Centropodinae și genului Centropus. Spre deosebire de multe cucii din lumea veche, cupolele nu sunt paraziți de pui. Pe de altă parte, ele au propriile particularități de reproducere: toți membrii genului sunt în proporție diferită sex-rol inversat, astfel încât bărbații mai mici oferă majoritatea îngrijirii părintești. Cel puțin o specie coucal, Coucalul Negru, este polandroasă. Unele specii au bărbații care investesc mai mult în incubație și în îngrijirea părinților. Dovezile ADN recente sugerează că acestea ar trebui să fie ridicate la starea familială, cum ar fi Centropodidae.
