Defeminization
Defeminizarea este un termen în biologia dezvoltării, în special în zoologie, referindu-se la un aspect al procesului de diferențiere sexuală prin care o structură, funcție sau comportament specific femeilor este împiedicată să se dezvolte printr-unul din procesele de dezvoltare masculină. Deși termenul pare să implice "îndepărtarea" caracteristicilor feminine, în aproape toate contextele biologice se referă la prevenirea manifestării unui aspect al dezvoltării feminine. În biologia umană a genului, cel mai cunoscut exemplu este prevenirea dezvoltării derivatelor ductului müllerian prin hormonul anti-mulerian în 3 și 4 luni de dezvoltare fetală, deși termenul nu este utilizat în mod obișnuit în discuțiile despre dezvoltarea umană. Într-o serie de mamifere non-umane, există dovezi că hormonii produși de testicule acționează direct asupra creierului pentru a preveni dezvoltarea caracteristicilor feminine, în special a comportamentului reproductiv feminin.
